The Sierra Vista Guest Ranch, comprising 400 acres was located 4 miles north of Cave Creek in the Continental Mountains. It was Cave Creek's second dude ranch and it operated from the early 1940's to 1962. It accommodated up to 15 guests in its rustic wooden cabins and lodge. It also had a spring fed swimming pool. Owned first by the Mognett's in 1938, they built guest cottages and supplied the horses for guest use. The property changed hands a number of times until it was sold to the Blomquists in 1952. The Blomquists made further improvements and expanded the cattle operation along with the dude ranch component. In 1954, they sold to Jack and Jean Owens. The Owens hired Hube and Patsy Yates to manage the guest ranch, which led to its huge success during their tenure. In 1962 Jack Owens retired from his medical practice in Milwaukee and moved to Cave Creek. The guest ranch was closed and used as their private residence. The photo shows (l. to r. ) Jack and Jean Owens and Patsy and Hub
