One of the oldest guest ranches in Arizona, Spur Cross Ranch comprised over 1760 acres of beautiful territory at 2650 ft. altitude. This cattle and guest ranch was located in desert and mountain country 5 miles north from the village of Cave Creek, where riding was the principle pastime. The ranch could accommodate up to 24 guests in rustic wooden cabins on the property. The ranch was operated by Warren and Billie Beaubien from 1945 until 1953. At the time the ranch showed signs of prospering, tragedy struck. Beaubien died as a result of injuries sustained in an airplane crash on the little airstrip carved out on the property. After the death of Warren in 1953, the ranch was sold to investors who demolished the buildings to save on property taxes.
